The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) offers the Digital, AI and Innovation Internship 2026, a paid placement that bridges advanced technology with international public service. Interns join multidisciplinary teams of civil servants, data scientists, policy experts and software engineers to develop and scale AI‑driven tools that address humanitarian and environmental challenges.

Who can apply

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s, PhD or equivalent postgraduate programme, or graduated within the past year.
  • Fields of study include Computer Science & IT, International Relations, Business & Management, Social Sciences, or related disciplines such as data science, AI, public policy, or engineering.
  • Demonstrated technical competence in digital tools, software development or data analysis.
  • Excellent written and spoken English; additional UN language skills are a plus.

  • AI & Innovation Projects: Contribute to design, testing and deployment of AI applications for climate resilience, poverty alleviation and other development goals.
  • Digital Solutions Integration: Support the rollout of digital transformation frameworks across UNDP country offices.
  • Research & Policy Briefs: Produce briefs and white papers translating technical trends into actionable policy recommendations.
  • Collaborative Workshops: Participate in global innovation labs, hackathons and brainstorming sessions.
