This programme is for outstanding future leaders and professionals from Chevening-eligible countries. It fully funds a one-year Master's degree at any UK university.
The British Chevening Scholarship is the UK government's global awards scheme designed to train future leaders, decision-makers, and opinion formers. Financed by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office alongside partner organisations, it provides complete financial backing for candidates undertaking a one-year postgraduate degree at a participating UK higher education institution.
Who Can Apply
Applicants must be citizens of a Chevening-eligible country or territory and commit to returning home for at least two years after completing their studies. Candidates are required to hold an undergraduate degree that meets entry criteria for a UK Master's course, completed at least two years before the scholarship application deadline. Additionally, applicants must have accumulated at least 2,800 hours (equivalent to two years) of post-graduation work experience. Applicants must apply to three eligible UK university courses and secure at least one unconditional offer by the stated timeline.
Individuals who hold British or dual British citizenship, hold UK residence at the time of application, or have previously studied in the UK under a UK government-funded award are ineligible.

- Shortlisted candidates must upload two reference letters and photo identification prior to attending an interview at a British embassy or high commission.
- Obtain and upload at least one unconditional university offer by the designated date.
